In addition to making New Year's resolutions, I like to clean out my house this time of year. I take a quick inventory of every room, and decide what gets fixed, replaced, or thrown away. This year I decided, along with cleaning my house, that I would "clean-up" my life. I've taken inventory of the elements in my life, and decided to make some changes.
Shedding some pounds, and less spending are items on my list, but I felt I also needed to revisit some priorities. My first priority, after God, is me, then my family, my job, and then others. I realized that in order to take care of my top priorities, I needed more time. The one element that takes up most of my time is my job. It was obvious that I needed to take some time away from my job, and allocate it.
Cutting my hours at work will put a strain on my financial situation, but I feel that I can make it work, and in the end, it will put my life in order. I will have time for me: time to write, exercise, and read a book. I will have time for my family: dates with my husband, walks with my kids, and phone conversations with my mom. I will manage my time at work more efficiently, because I will not go to work stressing about what I didn't get done at home over the weekend. Finally, I will have time for others: dinners with friends, or volunteering at my son's school.
I am still working this all out. I do know my time to make some changes is now. I don't know exactly what I can or will change, but I am sure that before the year ends, I will be on a new path to a better me, and a cleaner house...
Have you made any New Year's resolutions?
Wishing everyone a happy new year!!!

Sounds like a marvelous idea ....cleaning out the old ...making room for more time....yes I love it.
I am the same way! I get the cleaning bug and it starts with my cabinets and drawers. It's like a freash start and a new beginning! I look forward to blogging with you in 2010!
Hey there!
I also like to begin the New Year with a clean and organzied home. I don't make New Year resolutions, but I make New Day resolutions - to be just a litte better today than I was on yesterday.
Enjoy the rest of 2009 in joy and PEACE!
Hope you have the Happiest of New Year's, as well! Looks like 2009 will go out in style...a blizzard is forecast for New Year's Eve!
I dont usually make resolutions. But I like yours. Best of luck...change is sometimes hard but if you think it's needed then it's worth it! Happy New Year to you!
You are much more organized than me...
Great for you and very brave. Yes, financially things will be different but I can tell you, having less stress somehow makes up for all of it. It will work out; give it time and have faith. Best wishes to you!
I think that u r heading in the right direction! God is tops on my list! and hopefully in 2011 it will be maintaing the relationship.. :)
Yes cutting work will help you at home , it might put a strain on u financially but you will be able to enjoy ur children n fam life. Its just a bit of a sacrifice , I know how it can be.
Worthy goals...I always try to clean out my life as well, house and self. I've been more down than usual, so maybe it will help.
Happy New Year to you! :)
I agree with the whole thought process. It is funny since I have been thinking about my job too...it takes me away from so much when there is not really that much left but aging. I look forward to finding out how this works out for you. Time for you is most important. Bravo.
Awww, great minds think alike!! I spent most of today going through the kids' old toys and getting them ready to go to Goodwill. It always feels good to start the new year off with a fresh start! Sounds like you've been able to figure out a good balance between work and home!!
I am in give away mode too! Clean up is the name of the game...especially before the baby comes. I am so glad to hear you are going to have more time and less work! It might be tough but so worth it! And more bloggy time of course ;)
Happy New Year Flory!
Hi Flory! Happy 2010!!! You put my thoughts into words, girl! I also like to rearrange my house and myself this time of year. The sense of serenity it gives me is fabulous. Best of wishes!
Great resolutions! I need to clean out my house now too. I look forward to purging and streamlining all my stuff. I love the new year as a chance at new beginnings. I'm going to try and keep on track with my goals this year.
Good luck with your resolutions!!
